WILAYAH WATERLOO — Flair Airlines menggugat perusahaan leasing sebesar $51 juta atas penyitaan empat pesawat jet sewaan, termasuk satu di Wilayah Bandara Internasional Waterloo.
Penyitaan Sabtu membatalkan penerbangan untuk 628 penumpang di bandara regional dan menandakan turbulensi untuk maskapai diskon.
Flair telah mengakui tertinggal $1 juta dalam pembayaran sewanya, tetapi menuduh perusahaan leasing Airborne Capital melakukan “penipuan licik” dengan cara mendaratkan Boeing 737 di bandara sebelah timur Kitchener.
Empat pesawat Flair disita di tiga kota, mempengaruhi total hampir 1.900 penumpang.
Airborne mengatakan pihaknya mengambil alih pesawat sebagai “pilihan terakhir” dan menyalahkan maskapai karena berulang kali terlambat membayar sewa selama lima bulan meskipun telah berulang kali diperingatkan. Perusahaan mengutip tunggakan “mencapai jutaan dolar.”
Sengketa komersial mereka sekarang dapat dibawa ke pengadilan. Flair mengajukan kasus perdata di Toronto Selasa, menyebut Airborne dan empat terdakwa lainnya. Airborne, yang berbasis di Irlandia, menolak mengomentari gugatan tersebut.

Flair mengatakan pihaknya membatalkan penerbangan karena salah satu anggota kru sakit. Elia menerima pengembalian uang dan pergi ke Buffalo untuk penerbangan Delta. Solusi ini mungkin menghabiskan biaya $400 lebih untuk tiga tiket pulang-pergi.
Namun dia masih menyukai persaingan pasar dan akses ke bandara nyaman yang menawarkan kursi murah untuk penerbangan langsung. Dia memesan Flair berdasarkan rekomendasi orang lain yang memiliki pengalaman bagus.
